This assortment of people and objects only occurs when you have a small group (individuals) compared to a large group (conformists). Although these stereotypes can only be placed upon groups by ‘outsider’ peoples points of view. This is because the outsider does not know if the people in the two groups are putting on an act, or if they really belong there. There isn’t really such a thing as individuals, but there is such thing as an individual. An individual is one person, a group of individuals is lots of one persons. ‘One persons’ doesn’t make sense, that’s why there’s no such thing. If there are lots of one persons they are all conforming to being one great big person, that would then mean they’re being individual conformists.Â
Plot/Scene idea;
We could develop the idea from Australian Idol of ‘anyone could be a star’, and emphasise some great star, like Elvis being an individual just having won Australian Idol. (Yes, I know Australian Idol wasn’t around when Elvis was, it’s a NON-NATUALISTIC performance). Each of us is then some sort of great star as we all eventually win Australian Idol and we realise that we are now no longer individuals because we are all stars.
